Local Rules


1. Out of bounds (Rule 27)
A ball is out of bounds if it comes to rest: Beyond any hedge, fence, wall, line of white posts or ditch bounding the course, including the ditch left of the 10th fairway, the line of white posts right of the 18th hole and the wall separating the course from the Abbey Cemetery. On or beyond the footpath in the wood above the 1st, 2nd and 3rd holes. On or beyond the car park, any path or flower bed by the clubhouse. When playing the 5th hole only: beyond the line of white posts and then in or beyond the stream to the left of and parallel to the fairway. When playing the 7th hole only: Beyond the stream on the right as far as the line of white posts across the 8th fairway. On or beyond the public road which divides the course.

2. Water Hazards (Rule 26)
The stream to the right of the 7th hole as far as the line defined by the white posts, the stream to the right of the 8th hole and the ditch to the left of the 10th hole are Lateral Water Hazards. All other streams, ditches and ponds are Water Hazards.

3. Other Rules
There is a free drop from: A ball laying on a buggy path, within one club length no nearer to the hole.

4. Stones In Bunkers
These are movable obstructions (Rule 24-1)

5. Protection Of Young Trees
Identified by a stake or white paint. If such a tree interferes with a player's stance, or the area of his intended swing, the ball must be lifted, without penalty and dropped in accordance with the procedure described in Rule 24-2b(i).

6. White Posts
White Posts Defining Internal Out Of Bounds are immovable obstructions when playing holes to which they do not relate.

7. Fixed Sprinkler Heads
These are immovable obstructions and relief from interference may be obtained under Rule 24-2. In addition, if such an obstruction within two club lengths of the putting green of the hole being played intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may obtain relief, without penalty, as follows: If the ball lies off the putting green but not in a hazard and is within two club lengths of the intervening obstruction, it may be lifted and dropped at the nearest point to where the ball lay which: a) is not nearer the hole, b) avoids such intervention and c) is not in a hazard or on a putting green.

Match Play: loss of hole Stroke Play: 2 strokes.
